A Backlight sometimes also referred to as a light box, is the part of the LCD screen that makes the screen light up, sometimes things can go wrong with this part IE back light failing, or getting wet, or chemical damaged during the refurb process. Whatever the reason with a little bit of soldering usually 2 or 3 wires, this part can be very easily replaced.
